The inaugural gathering of the PSL Governing Council, led by the newly appointed PCB management committee, has been scheduled for September 25th. This crucial meeting, set against the backdrop of numerous team owners currently residing abroad, will convene through a video conferencing platform. At the forefront of the meeting's agenda is the pressing issue of determining the dates for the upcoming edition of the league, a matter that remains undecided at this juncture.
Additionally, a proposal is under consideration to potentially host the league in the UAE if early general elections take place in the country next year. However, the complex task of finding a suitable timeframe for the PSL looms large due to the simultaneous presence of various other T20 leagues during the same period next year.
The teams involved in the PSL are eager to expedite the scheduling process. It's essential to highlight that the Emirates Cricket Board has plans to organize its own league from January 19th to February 18th, a development that could potentially impact the availability of UAE venues for the PSL.
Notably, this gathering marks the first official interaction between Zaka Ashraf, the head of the management committee, and the franchise owners, during which pivotal decisions regarding the league's future will be thoroughly discussed.
One striking aspect is Zaka Ashraf's inclination, shared by existing franchise owners, against expanding the number of teams until the league's tenth edition. Amid these recent developments, Sohaib Sheikh has taken up the mantle of Director of PSL. However, the status of the Commissioner's role, currently held by Naila Bhatti, remains in limbo, awaiting clarification. These discussions and decisions are poised to shape the future trajectory of the Pakistan Super League
