ICC Men's ODI Batter Rankings reveal great threat to Pakistani batsmen

The top spot in the ICC Men's ODI Batter Rankings, which has long been held by Pakistan, is now facing a serious challenge. A significant number of Indian players have made significant progress in the latest rankings, thanks to their flawless performance in the Asia Cup.

India's flawless record in the Asia Cup is largely attributed to their formidable top-order, skillfully led by Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and captain Rohit Sharma. Shubman Gill, in particular, has been outstanding, with two half-centuries and a total of 154 runs in the tournament.

As a result of his stellar performance, he has achieved a career-high second-place ranking, with only Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, ahead of him.

The gap between Shubman Gill and Babar Azam has narrowed to just 103 rating points, with Babar leading at 863 rating points and Shubman Gill closely behind at 759 points. Notably, this update sees three Indian players inside the top 10 for the first time in over four and a half years, a feat last achieved in early 2019 when Shikhar Dhawan joined Rohit and Virat in the top 10.

Pakistan still maintains a strong presence in the top 10 batters, with three of their players included. However, Imam-ul-Haq has slipped to fifth place, and Fakhar Zaman has dropped to tenth. Additionally, Australian veteran David Warner has moved up to fourth place, and left-hander Travis Head has climbed six spots to reach the 20th position in the latest batter rankings.
