ISLAMABAD - Former Chairman PCB Najam Sethi is in hot waters as Pakistan Super League (PSL) audit reports have made startling revelations over PSL funds.
The audit report of the league’s season 1 and 2 submitted by the Auditor General of Pakistan revealed that the franchises were paid $1.3 million following the first season from PCB’s earnings without there being any clause mentioning the payment of this sum in the agreements signed between the parties.
The payment is strictly in violation of the rules and the PSL franchises were informed about the payment despite the lack of profits in the first season through an email by an official.
PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani has assured the officials that no victimization will be done, however, Mani himself will oversee the PSL arrangements for some time. The Managing Director for PSL will be appointed later.
AGP has also informed about Najam Sethi corrupt practices as he appointed a few individuals for posts they were not even eligible for. One such individual is the Director of Marketing Naila Bhatti, who is believed to be a close friend of the former Chairman.
The report also pointed out that certain officials of a department were awarded expensive cars and plots against the normal practices. Investigations are underway to uncover the irregularities and punish those involved.
