Windmills energy projects in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sep 13 (APP): Work on 22 windmill projects is underway at Gharo-Keti Bandar and Hyderabad wind corridor having capacity of producing 1,530 megawatts of the electricity.

Official sources said the country's 1,046 km-long coastal lines located in Sindh and Balochistan have great capacity to meet power needs by generating 50,000 MW electricity through windmill projects and in the first phase power projects are being installed at Gharo-Keti Bander and Hyderabad regions.

As many as nine wind turbine generator (WTG) projects are in advanced stage of development, while the other nine are under-construction and four have got their letters of intent (LoIs).

Currently, five wind turbine generator projects each with 50MW capacity are operating at Gharo-Jhimpir wind corridor. However, nine other WTG projects would produce 450MW in the phase of development while those in the stage of construction would produce 480MW wind energy.

Likewise, four projects, which have been given LoIs, would produce 350MW.
