Pakistan exports defence equipment to over 40 countries

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (APP): Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussein Monday said Pakistan was producing eighty percent defence equipments indigenously.
In an interview with PTV, he said measures were being taken to make the country self sufficient in production of defence equipments.
Pakistan was fulfilling the needs of its army. Defence equipments were being exported to over 40 countries including United States, United Kingdom, he added.
He said country's defence production industry was being upgraded and new technology was being introduced to enhance production. Super Mushaq planes were being manufactured indigenously and also being exported abroad. Provinces had been asked to avoid importing defence production equipments from abroad and concentrate on buying local products.
Responding to a question, he said there was no question of privatization of defence production sector. Exports of defence production were being enhanced.
Efforts were underway to make the defence production ministry self sufficient by avoiding taking grants from the government.
He said Pakistan's defence capability was at advanced level as drones were being produced locally.
He stressed close collaboration between defence production ministry and ministry of science and technology.
