In Ahmedabad, during the 2023 World Cup clash, India's star batsman Virat Kohli had a heartfelt interaction with Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam.
India secured a commanding seven-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in this high-intensity match, with Rohit Sharma's quickfire 86 and an impressive bowling performance.
India's bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, Muhammad Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav, restricted Pakistan to 191 in just 42.5 overs. Rohit Sharma's brilliant innings of 86 allowed India to chase down the target in only 30.3 overs, with Shaheen Afridi taking two wickets for Pakistan and Hasan Ali dismissing Virat Kohli.
After the match, a heartwarming moment occurred when Virat Kohli gifted a signed jersey to Babar Azam, and this video has since gone viral on social media. While Indian players celebrated their victory, Kohli engaged in a conversation with Babar.
Babar Azam admitted that Pakistan's batting collapse was the reason for their loss in the match. He mentioned their good start and partnership but regretted the sudden batting collapse, which prevented them from reaching their target of 280-290.
Babar also praised Rohit Sharma's match-winning performance and acknowledged the difficulty in taking wickets. Notably, India has now taken the top position in the ICC World Cup 2023 points table, having won all three of their matches and maintaining a positive net run rate of 1.821.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is in fourth place with a net run rate of -0.137 and is set to face Australia on October 20.
