LHC extends interim bail of Hamza Shahbaz till Nov 20

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench extended interim bail of Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz till November 20.

The bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi passed orders while hearing the pre-arrest bail petitions filed by Hamza
Shahbaz.

Hamza Shahbaz appeared before the bench at the outset of proceedings.
The bench was apprised that Hamza's counsel Azam Nazir Tarar went abroad to attend a law conference. The court was requested to adjourn the matter till his arrival.

At this, the bench adjourned the hearing till November 20 and extended interim bail of Hamza Shahbaz as well.
Hamza had filed bail petitions saying that the NAB initiated three inquiries against him including Punjab Saaf Pani Company, Ramzan Sugar Mills and assets beyond means. He questioned the jurisdiction of the anti-graft watchdog to probe the matters.

He submitted that he had been appearing before the NAB investigation teams and providing them with all the required
information and document.

But, despite that there was a possibility that the interrogators might arrest him, he added. He pleaded with the court to grant interim bail.
