ISLAMABAD: The Council of Common Interests (CCI) has rejected PTI chairman Imran Khan’s demand for early polls.
The CCI meeting was presided over by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday.
The chief ministers of the four provinces agreed to hold the elections on time.
Sources said that KPK Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak had proposed the early elections, but the proposal was rejected by the prime minister and the chief ministers.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah informed his reservations about the census. “We are ready to make the constitutional amendment despite swallowing a sour pill,” he added. “The census should be conducted through a third party in the areas which were left by the authorities.”
On the demand of Syed Murad Ali Shah, the prime minister directed the Statistics Division to share the census statistics with provinces.
