ISLAMABAD - Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei makes stunning revelations against US over coronavirus outbreak.
The Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reacted to latest statement of Sayyid Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, who claimed that the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran may have links with the suspected biological attack.
“The Armed Forces’ Medical Base should establish medical centers, work to prevent the spread of this disease using necessary methods & divide duties between the sectors in the Armed Forces. This Base must work in full coordination with the govt & the Ministry of Health,” Khamenei said in a Twitter post late on Thursday night.
He went on to claim “Since there is some evidence that this may be a ‘#BiologicalAttack,’ the establishment of this Base in the Armed Forces for confronting the #Coronavirus may also be regarded as a biological defense exercise & add to our national sovereignty & power.”
Reacting to Khamenei’s statement, Pompeo tweeted “As @khamenei_ir knows, the best biological defense would’ve been to tell the Iranian people the truth about the Wuhan virus when it spread to #Iran from China. Instead, he kept Mahan Air flights coming and going to the epicenter in China, and jailed those who spoke out.”
According to reports, more than 10,000 Iranians have contracted coronavirus since the outbreak of the disease in the country which has so far killed around 429 people.
Originated for the first time in China last year, the public health officials around the world have recorded more than 127,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus. The disease has reportedly killed around 4,700 people across the globe.
