Shawwal Moon likely to be sighted in Balochistan: PMD

ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted on Thursday the moon may be sighted in Balochistan’s coastal areas – Pasni and Gwadar.
However, since the age of the moon is 19 hours, the PMD has foretold the chances of moon sighting to be ‘fewer’ today.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee is meeting in Karachi for sighting the Shawwal moon.
According to Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony officials, Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee meet under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman while the district committees meet in their respective areas.
Earlier today, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the sighting of moon marking the beginning of Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated in the country on Friday.
