Punjab Mineral survey agreement with German company inked

LAHORE: (APP) Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said the agreement of Punjab Mineral Department with German company regarding survey of mineral reserves in Punjab was a good omen which would help explore mineral reserves present in the province.
Punjab Chief Minister was the chief guest at the ceremony of signing this agreement between Provincial Minerals Department and renowned International German Company Fugro of mining sector.
Secretary Minerals Dr. Arshad Mehmood on behalf of Punjab government and Managing Director German Company Fugro Dr. Uta Alisch signed the agreement. Under the agreement, German Company would conduct survey for exploring mineral reserves in the districts of the province.
German Company will work in connection with exploring oil and gas reserves in the province and will also start its second phase for exploring mineral reserves at Chiniot and adjoining areas and will submit its report to the Punjab government.
The Punjab government will provide all out cooperation to German Company for exploring mineral reserves.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said due to the survey, mineral reserves of the province would be estimated in the real sense and authentic data would be collected. He said German company SST working to estimate coal reserves in salt range should present its report till next month as the report would help estimate coal reserves as a result of which a power plant could also be set up through local coal in the area.
Provincial Minister for Minerals Chaudhry Sher Ali Khan, Chief Secretary, Secretary Minerals, Secretary Energy, DG Mines, Managing Director German Company Fugro Dr. Uta Alisch, Country Project Manager Ralph Braumann and Senior Geologist German Company SST Johann Gotsis were also present on the occasion.
