Shutdown in IOK against hearing of Article 35-A by Indian court

ISLAMABAD: In occupied Kashmir, a two-day shutdown is being observed from against the Indian designs to change the demography of the occupied territory by abrogating Articles 35-A and 370 of the Indian Constitution.
According to Kashmir Media Service,Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by various political parties and organizations including Jamaat-e-Islami, Kashmir Centre for Social and Development Studies (KCSDS) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Article 35-A and Article 370 have been listed for hearing in Supreme Court of India from today. Article 35-A bars outsiders from acquiring any immovable property in Jammu and Kashmir, while Article 370 grants a special status to the territory under the Indian Constitution.
All shops and business establishments are closed across the Valley while traffic is of the road. Indian forces’ personnel have been deployed in strength in Srinagar and other towns to prevent anti-India protests.
The JRL in a statement said that “people of Jammu and Kashmir will forcefully resist every challenge by New Delhi to change the demography of J&K by rolling back hereditary state subject laws of 1927, being contested in the Supreme Court through their agents.”
