Pakistan Independence day celebrations held in China

BEIJING - Celebrations were held at the Pakistani Embassy in China in light of Independence Day.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Masood Khalid by hoisting the country’s flag while the national anthem played in the background.

The hoisting ceremony was followed by reading out Independence Day messages from Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Nasirul Mulk and President Mamnoon Hussain.

The president in his message said, “The economic problems being faced by Pakistan and the complex issues confronting us can only be overcome by following the teachings of the Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal in their true spirit.”

“National days are celebrated with the purpose of educating society, particularly the new generation about the objective and the struggle for the attainment of Pakistan,” he added.

President Hussain also said, “I believe that the objective of developing the country and rekindling its glorious past can only be achieved if we work single-mindedly keeping aside our personal interests.”

The caretaker PM said in his message, “Let us on this day renew our pledge to build Quaid’s Pakistan and pay tribute to our heroes and to those who have put their heart and soul towards ensuring that our freedom is not marred by any internal or external factors.”

Ambassador Khalid, while adressing the ceremony, said that the Pakistani community must take pride in the reality that they belong to an independent nation.

The ambassador also heralded the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a beacon of prosperity in a future shared by China and Pakistan.
