Background contacts being established to bring political stability in Pakistan: report

Former Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has made a noteworthy assertion, claiming that both President Dr. Arif Alvi and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif share a similar "positive stance" – neither of them desires a confrontation with the military establishment. In an exclusive conversation with ARY News, Durrani recollected his encounter with PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif during his time in jail, during which he advised against "picking a fight with the military establishment."

According to Durrani, Shehbaz Sharif explained that he was bound by his party leadership, and he observed that both Shehbaz Sharif and President Alvi held a 'similar positive stance' on this matter.

Durrani went on to describe a conversation he had with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, emphasizing that the PTI chief would not be ousted if the conflict was directed at the wrong target, likening it to hitting the ball at the umpire's head rather than the intended target. He emphasized that it is ultimately the people of the country who have the power to decide a politician's fate.

Regarding the political landscape, Durrani stated that it improved following his meetings with President Dr. Arif Alvi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir. He claimed to have an insight into the PTI chief's actions, expressing his belief that a level playing field would not be entered unless there were expectations of positive outcomes.

Before meeting President Dr. Arif Alvi, Durrani revealed that he had engaged with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders who remained committed to the party and expressed a desire for reconciliation. He contrasted them with those who had left the party, suggesting that the latter sought conflict.

Furthermore, Ali Durrani announced his intention to reveal confidence-building measures (CBMs) on Friday, which he believes will represent the interests of those who remain part of PTI and are currently facing a crisis.
