Former Pakistani cricketer Mushtaq Ahmed has made a prediction that Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, might consider temporarily leaving the field during the upcoming World Cup matches if the team faces a challenging situation.
Drawing from his experience working with the England team, where they advised Alastair Cook to step off the field and consult with the management during tough phases of a game, Mushtaq highlighted how such discussions with the coaching staff often positively influenced the outcome of matches in both Test and ODI cricket.
Mushtaq, aged 53, expressed his belief that Babar might adopt a similar strategy during difficult situations in the upcoming matches.
According to him, taking a brief break to engage in discussions with the coaching staff can provide the much-needed clarity and perspective.
He further emphasized that, in his view, when Pakistan encounters challenging moments in future matches, Babar is likely to leave the field and communicate with the coaching staff, as using messages from the dressing room undermines a captain's authority, making the captain's on-field presence a more effective approach.
