Preservation of dying art imperative to promote indigenous culture: Information Minister

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has directed the concerned authorities to develop a substantial plan envisaging concrete measures to preserve and document the dying arts in the country.

Chairing a briefing at Lok Virsa in Islamabad, has said preservation of dying art is imperative to promote indigenous culture and connect new generation with history and cultural heritage.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Pakistan has a distinct and unique culture and the government will facilitate and patronize its promotion.

He also emphasized the need to encourage the local artists and engage them by providing them avenues to exhibit their art works and performances.

The Minister also asked Lok Virsa to devise a programme to hold competition among the local artists.

He directed the management to establish liaison with the provincial cultural departments to hold three-day Lok Mela in provincial capitals of the country.

Earlier, Fawad Chaudhry visited Virsa Museum and witnessed its various sections.
