Bhoja Airline owner booked for 2012 Bhoja Air crash

KARACHI: A case has been lodged against owner of a local airline company, Bhoja Air, Maalik Farooq Umar, for the aviation incident  that took place five years ago.

The FIR filed by petitioner Abid Rehman, whose mother was killed in the accident, includes sections of murder and conspiracy. The case was registered  at Loi Bheer police station in Islamabad.

The 2012 Bhoja Air crash that left all 127 people on board killed. The crash is considered one of the deadliest air disasters in Pakistan’s history.

The 78 page investigating report released in 2015 maintains that the pilot and bad weather were responsible for the tragic incident.

The report says “ineffective automated flight deck management in extreme adverse weather conditions by cockpit crew caused the accident.”

The four basic reasons cited in the report for the crash are; plane’s speed, altitude, engine power and landing speed.

It further suggested that the plane’s captain, Noorullah Khan, 58, and his co-pilot were not trained enough to fly the advanced Boeing 737-236 which features an automated flight deck.
