SC restores NA membership of PML-N leader

ISLAMABAD: While nullifying the decision of election tribunal to conduct election in NA-176 Muzafargarh, Supreme Court has restored National Assembly membership of PML-N MNA Sultan Hanjra.


As per details, the hearing was held here at today in Supreme Country under the three member bench headed by Chief of Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali regarding the election tribunal decision to conduct re election in NA-176 constituency.


While declaring the verdict over the plea of Sultan Hanjra, Supreme Court has nullified election tribunal decision of his disqualification and order to restore Sultan Hanjra National Assembly membership.


It is also worthy to mention her that Sultan Hanjra was declared winner in NA-176 during general election 2013 but his victory had been challenged by his rival candidate PML-F Ghulam Mustafa Khar in election tribunal.


Election tribunal disqualified PML-N candidate on July 18, 2014 over the plea of Mustafa Khar and ordered to conduct election again in this constituency.


Election tribunal verdict was challenged by Malik Sultan Hanjra in Supreme Court while Supreme Court had reserved its judgment on April 21.
