French firms invited to invest in power sector of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has offered the French Companies to explore the fast growing power sector of Pakistan for its better returns.
Talking to French Ambassador Marc Barety in Islamabad, he said consumers services areas in the power distribution companies (DISCOs) provides good opportunity to the investors.
The Minister explained recent reforms being initiated by present government in power sector and informed the Ambassador about initiative to author new energy policy and electricity plan.
The Minister invited the French Government and AFD for their assistance in the establishment of the Institute.
Speaking on the occasion, French Ambassador said that the French Development Agency will consider to provide assistance in Balochistan's solar tube wells and establishment of Renewable Energy Institute in its development portfolio for this year.
He appreciated the efforts of the present government in power sector.
The Ambassador said progress in power sector has been exemplary and many French Potential Companies are taking keen interest in the sector. APP/AFP
