Rs 1900 billion embezzlement unearthed in previous regime, audit report

ISLAMABAD - An audit report compiled by then Attorney General of Pakistan has notified mammoth embezzlement and irregularities amounting to Rs1900 billion in power sector only.
Likewise, the report states that embezzlement and irregularities worth Rs 208 billion were discovered in projects related to water sector.
The report adds that Rs100 billion were issued for Diamer Basha Dam for land acquisition. The land that cost Rs150,000 per canal was acquired at whooping rate of Rs12,00,000 per canal.
Likewise, Gomal Zam Dam was estimated to be completed at cost of Rs12 billion but the same cost national exchequer Rs22 billion. Similarly, Mangla Uprising project was estimated to be completed at cost of Rs64 billion but same cost national exchequer Rs94 billion.
Darawar Dam was estimated to be completed at Rs3 billion but same was completed at cost of Rs11 billion and Nai Gaj Dam was estimated to be completed at cost of Rs16 billion but same cost national exchequer Rs46 billion.
