Human resource development important for poverty alleviation: President

President Arif Alvi has said human resource development is important for poverty alleviation and development of the country.
He was addressing a ceremony in connection with launch of National Academy of Higher Education in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The President emphasized the need for quality education by the way of capacity building of teachers and bringing improvement in the educational institutions.
Arif Alvi said every institution including the media must play its role to bring positive change in the society.
The President said promotion of education is vital to achieve vision of Naya Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said the government is committed to quality education and special allocations have been made in the budget for the purpose.
The Minister said National Academy of Higher Education will develop and promote academic governance and leadership quality of the higher education institutions faculty.
He stressed the need for making education combatable with the job requirement of the market.
Chairman HEC Tariq Banuri in his welcome note highlighted salient features and importance of NAHE.
He said NAHE will engage with international institutions, development agencies, NGOs, civil society and social organizations to promote education in the country.
Punjab Higher Education Minister Raja Yasir Humayon, Professor of Engineering Oakley University Dr Barbara Oakley, Chief Executive Advance Higher Education UK Alison Johns, World Bank Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan were also present on the occasion.
