ISLAMABAD: Ameen Ansari, the father of the seven-year-old Zainab who was murdered after being sexually abused, has written a letter to President Mamnoon Hussain, requesting him to reject the mercy plea of his daughter’s murderer, Imran Ali, reported.
Ali had written to the president asking for clemency after the Lahore High Court and a three-member Supreme Court bench rejected his appeals against the conviction.
He does not deserve any concession and should be given exemplary punishment, said Zainab’s father in his letter.
Earlier in June, a three-member Supreme Court bench dismissed an appeal filed by Ali, challenging the death sentence awarded to him by an anti-terrorism court in the Zainab murder case. APP
