ISLAMABAD: (APP) Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday expressed resentment over the dysfunctional condition of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) due to retirement of as many as four officials.
Taking notice of the case, Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that the appointment of new officials should be made as early as possible as the department has become dysfunctional after the retirement of senior personnel.
He said that the authorities cannot wait for six months, therefore, the orders regarding recruitment of new members should be implemented in a given time period. Earlier, Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar met opposition leader Khurshid Shah and discussed appointments of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.
The government and opposition had held meeting for the third time. The leaders had also discussed recruitment of ECP officials and agreed on finalizing the names in constitutional duration.
