PM Imran Khan gives strict instructions to the cabinet ministers

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan told his cabinet ministers on Tuesday to either own the government’s decisions and initiatives or resign if they disagree with his vision.

As per media reports, the premier reprimanded the ministers during the federal cabinet’s meeting for their poor performances and the lack of reforms in the state institutions for over two and a half years.

“Ministers should show some ownership towards the decisions of the government,” he said, adding that if they go against the policies of the PTI, they are free to resign from their posts.

It all started when the Advisor to PM on Institutional Reforms, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, briefed the cabinet about the situation of the state institutions, in response to which the PM lamented that no reform could be introduced to the system of governance.

Many cabinet members opposed the idea of reforms in different institutions and suggested that the accountability of those responsible for the current state of affairs be considered. ------------------------------

The PM responded that all the ministers would have to improve their performances, and directed them to prepare brief but comprehensive reports about the institutions.

The premier also chided the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), saying that “the AGP has been accused of a 200 billion rupees corruption scandal,” and directed him to submit a report in this regard.
