FATA tribesmen laud government over SC, PHC jurisdiction extension to tribal areas

PESHAWAR - People from different walks of life in Bajaur Agency have welcomed passage of a bill by the National Assembly to extend jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to FATA.

Talking to Radio Pakistan Correspondent in Bajour Agency, they termed it as beginning of a new era for tribesmen.

PML-N MNA from Bajaur Agency Shahabuddin Khan said extension of the superior courts’ jurisdiction to FATA was the long standing demand of the tribesmen.

JI local chapter Chief Qari Abdul Majeed said approval of FATA bill by the National Assembly is truly a remarkable step toward provision of judicial and basic rights to the people of tribal areas.

PTI senior vice president Nawabzada Jalaluddin Khan said the step will help overcome problems of the tribesmen.

Social rights activist Muhammad Ayub Khan said it will not only ensure speedy justice to the tribesmen but also improve socio-economic condition of people in tribal areas.

Meanwhile, people have held several processions to celebrate the move by the National Assembly.
