Azadi Train : A symbol of national unity and harmony

PESHAWAR (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Friday called for unity, harmony and joint efforts for defence and prosperity of the motherland.
During his visit to Peshawar Railway Station, he lauded the arrangements for Azadi train by Railways.
Addressing the farewell ceremony, he said said such an initiative was highly laudable.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said : "As an independent nation we should have to form unity among our ranks and rise above personal interest and work together for the protection and prosperity of the motherland."
He called for creating awareness among masses about blessing of Independence and highlighting the efforts of those who contributed in creation of Pakistan.
On the occasion, the Governor condemned terrorist attack in Quetta and said that the whole nation stood united with people of Quetta.
He expressed the resolve to give sacrifice for the defence and peace in country.
He said: "Independence is a blessing and as a nation we should have to be very thankful to Allah Almighty for this." "Today, we are living in an independent state for which our political leaders including Quaid-e-Azam and other heroes and masses rendered great sacrifices", he added.
He said the Azadi train is an effort to pay rich tribute to national heroes and to recall the sacrifices of forefathers of the nations.
Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser, high officials and large number of people were also present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that as part of the Independence Day celebrations, Pakistan Railways (PR) has decorated and launched a special 'Azadi Trainâ' that arrived here at Peshawar Railway station last night and started its 4,000=kilometre long journey across the country covering all railway station of Tehsil, District and divisional headquarters along with other major cities.
Pakistan Railways has prepared special floats on the train to represent heritage, architecture and culture of Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while the national and local folk artists, army and police bands would represent art and traditional songs and music during the countrywide cultural performances at all important railway stations.
