Which district of Pakistan become polio free

ABBOTTAAD: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Cap (R) Orangzeb Haider on Thursday said the district has become polio free, the target was achieved by hard work of district health department and Polio workers.

Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Cap. (R) Orangzeb Haider while addressing district health department workers here at Jalal Baba Auditorium, said the polio workers and health department deserve appreciation for their efforts.

He also appreciated parents for their cooperation to make the immunization drive successful. Director EPI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Hameed Afridi while addressing said that they have provided all facilities to anti-polio teams and government also approved 25 billion rupees Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in the province for the current year.

He further said that at present the strength of EPI worker is 3001 in KP whereas provincial government is taking steps for betterment of the programme.

Provincial Coordinator EPI Akbar Khan said that Abbottabad is a role model in anti-polio drives in the province and underlined the need for hard work to eradicate polio from the province.

He also thanked district administration, police and other departments for their cooperation during the anti-polio drives in the district.

Later DC Abbottabad Orangzeb Haider distributed certificates and shields amongst good performer during anti polio drive 2016. (APP)
