IHC grants time to federation, KPK govt to reply in IG appointment case

ISLAMABAD (APP): Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday granted time to federation and KPK government to submit reply in case regarding appointment of IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Salahuddin Mehsood and adjourned the case until May 2.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC conducted hearing of the petition challenging the appointment of new Inspector General (IG) of KP police.

During hearing, the bench asked whether the appointment against this post was used to made on seniority base?

The counsel for the IG KPK, Sher Afzal Advocate said that according to law the appointment was made with the consultation of federation and province concerned.

However, the counsel for the petitioner, Masroor Shah Advocate argued that officer of BPS-20 could not be posted as IG in accordance of law.

He observed the appointment was violation of KPK Police Ordinance Section-14.

Additional Attorney General of Pakistan, Afnan Karim Kundi appeared before the court on behalf of federal government.

The federation and KPK government requested the bench to grant time to submit their reply in this case, which was accepted by the court.

The court adjourned the hearing of case till May, 2.
