Hurriyet welcomes UN statement over Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD: The Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has termed as significant the recent statement of United Nations (UN) wherein it expressed concern over the rising tension between India and Pakistan.
He stressed the World Body to resolve the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir through peaceful means, KMS reported.
The Hurriyet forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said, "This shows international community is concerned about Kashmir."
He said rising tension between the two countries over the Kashmir dispute was taking a dangerous turn with every passing day.
"The confrontational approach between the two countries has in past given rise to armed conflicts and wars, resulting in death and destruction at large scale and the rising current tensions is taking an alarming shape," it added.
The spokesman also paid glowing tributes to the five youth of Handwara area on their first martyrdom anniversary killed by forces while protesting against molestation of a local girl by Indian army personnel. (APP)
