Dar hints Electoral Reforms Committee to complete its work before June

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms will completes its work on elections reforms before June.

This was stated by Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar after 22th meeting of the committee here at Parliament House on Thursday.

He said that so far a total 102 meetings held by the elections reforms committee, adding that 22 meetings held by Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms and 81 meetings by sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms.

He said that a total 630 proposals were received by the Committee, adding that the sub-committee worked on the proposals submitted by all the stakeholders.

He said that it was decided in today meeting that sub-committee on daily basis held its meeting to finalize its recommendations regarding elections laws and rules.

He said that in third phase, recommendations would be finalized regarding constitutional amendments.

Ishaq Dar said that efforts being in progress to complete work on electoral reforms before budget.

He said that the sub-committee was working on the electronic voting and bio metric machines, adding that in up-coming general elections it be utilized based on the resources and benefits. (APP)
