Pakistan Hockey fans suffer huge disappointment

The International Hockey Federation has canceled Pakistan's hosting of the Olympic qualifying round, citing differences with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). The FIH communicated this decision to the PHF via a letter.
Sources suggest that interference from the Pakistan Sports Board in PHF affairs contributed to the FIH's choice. Additionally, ongoing criticism of the hockey federation by former Olympians further impacted the hosting decision. In the letter explaining its decision, the FIH cited uncertainty within and around the PHF, making it unfit to host these events.
Notably, this would have been Pakistan's inaugural hosting of the Olympic qualifying round, which was scheduled for January 13 to 21, 2024, in Lahore. Recently, the Pakistan Sports Board suspended all PHF officials based on recommendations from the former Prime Minister
