Imran Khan, the leader of PTI, convened yet another meeting with his legal team within the confines of Attock Jail. During this gathering, he adamantly refuted any allegations of a 'deal' being struck. The PTI legal team, composed of Naeem Haider Panjotha, Umair Niazi, and Shoaib Shaheen, engaged in discussions with the ousted prime minister.
After their meeting, Naeem Haider Panjotha addressed reporters, reiterating Khan's denial of any deals and emphasizing that the sole solution to the country's dire 'economic disaster' is to hold 'immediate and transparent elections.' Furthermore, he revealed that a contempt petition had been lodged against the Superintendent Jail, with consequences looming if the court's inquiry is not adequately addressed.
In response to a query, Panjotha disclosed that they had been informed of an upcoming proceeding regarding the cipher case, scheduled to take place in Attock Jail on September 14. Previously, PTI's legal representatives had conveyed Khan's willingness to engage in discussions, but with a singular focus on elections.
Shoaib Shaheen, another member of the legal team, expressed Khan's concerns about the people of Pakistan amidst the 'deteriorating economic situation.' Meanwhile, Naeem Haider Panjotha assured that Imran Khan's well-being was satisfactory in jail and underscored the necessity for political stability within the nation. Panjotha relayed Khan's willingness to engage in dialogue with any political party or institution regarding election matters.
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently in judicial custody until September 13 in the cipher case, has been incarcerated in Attock prison since his arrest on August 05. A special court in Islamabad mandated Attock Jail authorities to detain the PTI chairman in judicial lockup pertaining to the cipher case
