LONDON: A photo exhibition marking the continuing links between the UK and Pakistan 70 years after independence has been launched in the House of Commons.
Entitled “Shared history; shared future”, the photographs depict contemporary as well as historical connections between the two countries.
Launching the exhibition, Foreign Office Minister of State for Asia and Pacific Mark Field, MP, said: “Each one of the photographs is taken in Pakistan, and yet they each show a person, a place or a product that is British, and making a difference to Pakistan.”
The images include a factory worker making bagpipes in Sialkot and the beneficiaries of a number of aid projects such as pupils with impaired hearing at the Deaf Reach School in Karachi.
Another picture shows primary schoolgirls during a mathematics lesson in the Panian area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
