Pakistani sports presenter and commentator Zainab Abbas has issued an apology for leaving the World Cup 2023 midway, following the registration of a first information report (FIR) against her.
Indian media had reported that the Pakistani presenter was 'deported' from India. However, an ICC spokesperson refuted these claims, stating that she left India for a "personal reason."
Zainab Abbas had been in India as part of the ICC's list of presenters for the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023. She clarified in her latest post on social media that she was not deported from India but expressed her dismay at the online reaction.
Her stay in India took an unexpected turn when an Indian lawyer filed a complaint against her, accusing her of making derogatory remarks on social media platforms against India and the Hindu religion based on her decade-old tweets.
However Zainab Abbas has tendered apology over her past tweets and informed that she didn't mean to hurt someone feelings on it.
Despite this incident, Zainab Abbas relocated from India to Dubai, according to our sources.
Meanwhile, Pakistani fans and journalists are still awaiting visas to travel to India for the World Cup. Visas for the Pakistan team were granted just 48 hours before their departure, marking their first tour of India since the T20 World Cup in 2016.
