Cyber Security in Pakistan: Federal government takes unprecedented measures

Caretaker Minister for IT Umar Saif has taken a significant step in enhancing cybersecurity in Pakistan. He recently revealed the creation of the nation's inaugural National Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).

The primary objective of this initiative is to fortify Pakistan's cybersecurity landscape in the face of continually evolving threats and cyberattacks directed at public sector organizations.

Minister Saif officially unveiled this development through his social media platforms on Thursday. He emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating,

"Today, we have embarked on the journey of establishing a National CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) for Pakistan. Our national CERT, along with subsequent sector-specific CERTs, will serve as the institutional framework and capability to safeguard Pakistan's cyber space."
