Despite exit from World Cup, Pakistan team gets a huge prize money

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that the Pakistan cricket team is set to receive a total of $260,000, despite their premature departure from the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The tournament, hosted in India, saw Pakistan engage in nine matches, clinching victories in four and enduring defeats in five. Consequently, the national team secured the fifth position, accumulating eight points in the process.

For the World Cup, ICC designated a prize purse of $10 million, wherein each team earned $40,000 for every match won during the group stage. Notably, even teams eliminated in the group stage are entitled to a participation fee.

In accordance with the ICC's calculation method, Pakistan's early exit qualifies them for a total prize sum of $260,000, which translates to approximately PKR 74 million.

It is crucial to highlight that the semifinalists will each receive $800,000, the finalists are set to be awarded $2.5 million, and the ultimate winner of the tournament will take home a substantial $5 million.
