Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on protesters in IOK

SRINAGAR - In occupied Kashmir, several people were injured when Indian troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on protesters in Baramulla district today.

They were protesting against the cordon and search operation by the troops at Tantrey Pora in Palhalan area of the district.

The troops also forced people to stay outdoor for many hours despite heavy rains in Tangmarg area of Baramulla district.

Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of 24-year-old martyr, Mudasir Khan, who was killed by Indian troops during an operation in Pinglish area of the town.

He was laid to rest amid pro-freedom, pro-Pakistan and anti-India slogans at his native village in Tral.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani condemned the summoning of his younger son, Syed Naseem Gilani, by India’s National Investigation Agency in the name of questioning.

In a statement in Srinagar, he said Indian agencies are harassing his family members to pressurize him into submission.

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and Awami Action Committee in their meetings and members of trader community while addressing a news conference in Srinagar denounced the arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik under draconian Public Safety Act, NIA raids, ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Naseem Gilani by NIA to New Delhi.

They termed the notice to Mirwaiz as a direct interference in the religious matters.

Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema has also called for shutdown across the Kashmir valley on Saturday against the summoning of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by NIA.

Addressing a news conference at Mirwaiz Manzil in Srinagar, the Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam also urged people to hold protests on Friday against the NIA notices and ban on Jamaat-e-Islami.
