China to continue coordinated efforts to properly handle listing issue

BEIJING: China will continue to communicate and coordinate with relevant parties to handle the listing issue in a responsible manner, a Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson said on Monday.
“China will continue to communicate and coordinate with relevant parties in a responsible manner and properly handle this issue,” Lu Kang said during his routine briefing while stating his country’s position on the 1267 Committee of the UN Security Council.
“China has always participated in relevant discussions in a responsible manner and in strict accordance with the principles, regulations, and procedures of the relevant committee,” he added.
Lu Kang made it clear that only decisions made through responsible and serious discussions were the way to solve the problems sustainably.
To a question, he said that recently, a series of events had taken place between India and Pakistan which were indeed not conducive to peace and stability in South Asia.
“I have introduced here that China has used its mediation between India and Pakistan to make a lot of efforts to promote dialogue, work hard to cool the situation and promote the improvement of relations between the two sides, he added.
The spokesperson said in the process of exchanging views with India and Pakistan on the situation in the region, security was an important issue, adding, “We have conducted extensive and in-depth communication with both parties.”
