Pakistan Arms imports from US drastically decline by 76%: Report

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s arms imports from USA have plummeted by massive 76pc during the period of 2013-17, reported Stockholm International Research Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
According to details, Pakistan accounted for 2.7pc of global arms imports during the aforementioned period.
The main reason behind plummeting imports from USA is growing tensions between the two allies against the backdrop of Afghanistan issue. During the same period, China’s weapons exports to Pakistan augmented by healthy 35pc and the latter remained biggest buyer of Chinese-made weapons.
The SIPRI report stated that India—Pakistan’s arch nemesis—remained the highest imported of the weapons, accounting 12pc of the global arms imports. India’s arms imports witnessed a massive surge of 24pc in 2013-17.
During the same period, Pakistan’s imports plummeted by 36pc.
