No compromise over corrupt politicians: Sheikh Rasheed

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Tuesday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government under the honest leadership of prime minister Imran Khan will not make any compromise on corruption, whether it was done by Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif or anybody else.

Talking to private news channel, Sheikh Rasheed said the battle against corruption was uncompromising and that his government was not going to spare anyone.

He said any person who has cheated or looted the country shall be brought to justice. This is regardless of whether he is in Pakistan or abroad.

While criticizing opposition,  he said that just like the ‘Chur Machaye Shour’ film, the Sharif-Zardari alliance would also fail as there was no hero among them.

“Both Sharif and Zardari claim that they are innocent but if they are all innocent then who has looted the country?” he asked.

He said the era of those who looted the national resources would not return.

Replying a Question , he said opposition just criticizing government over non issues adding, they are not appreciating government’s positive steps for the welfare of the country.

He mentioned that corruption was always a leading indicator for political instability and civil wars, adding, if we didn’t control it country can face many challenges in near future.

In another question, he said Pakistan Railway was moving towards progress for its revival and sustainability to achieve future targets.

Minister said he has fulfilled his promise and made the department a profitable organization within a given span of time.

He said the sinking Pakistan Railways (PR) had now stood up on its feet and will achieve many milestones if same policy is continued.“We accord top priority to the welfare of the poor, the honor and security of the motherland,” he said.

He said earlier corruption and mismanagement had driven the Pakistan Railways towards ruin as freight trains were also suspended across the country while half of passengers trains had been off track but steps of the minister had put it on a right track of profit.

The present leadership had ended the tradition of spending public wealth for fulfilling personal needs, he added.

The whole nation was paying the price of their wrongdoings as they badly damaged the country’s economy and plunged the nation into the quagmire of debts, he said and added those who ruthlessly plundered the national exchequer were now trying to pretend themselves innocent.

The minister said that there is no comparison of Prime Minister Imran Khan with other corrupt political politicians as Imran Khan was making serious efforts for improving the national economy.

Sheikh said that he had full confidence in the leadership of honest Imran Khan.

He also said PTI government will present public and poor segments friendly budget today.

Sheikh Rasheed said that criticizing the process of justice is inappropriate, adding that all the cases against Asif Ali Zardari were filed by former Leader of PML-N Nawaz Sharif.

Commented on National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), he maintained that Prime Minister Imran Khan would never strike any deal with “corrupt politicians”.
