LAHORE, June 12 (APP): Punjab Hospitals to have computerized medicine system

 

The Punjab government has decided to launch a paper-free computerized system for monitoring of availability of medicines and medication in public sector hospitals and basic health units, health sources said here.

 

Under the new system, record of medicines will be maintained online and shortage of any medicines will be monitored without wasting any time. The record of patients at outdoor patients departments (OPDs), emergency and wards will also be available on online data.

 

To ensure presence of doctors, computerized attendance will be introduced besides issuing computerized prescription from the doctors after check-up of patients.

 

This task will be the joint venture of the Punjab Health department and City District Government of Lahore.

 

All presentations have been completed in this regard and the training of doctors, pharmacists and persons belonging  to health management was going to be started soon, the source added.

 

Meanwhile, a leader of Patients Rights Forum and renowned pharmacist Noor Mehar appreciating the decision termed it a milestone in the betterment of medication system in Punjab.

 

He said this paper-free computerized system would ensure availability of medicines to patients in an effective way.
