Delay in Election Act 2017 harmful for next general elections: ECP

Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP) has called for expediting enactment of the Election Act 2017 so that arrangement for the forthcoming general elections can be made accordingly.
This was stated in a letter written to heads of all the political parties having representation in the parliamentary committee on electoral reforms, by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan.
He urged the electoral reforms committee to finalize its recommendations and lay the bill before the parliament for making necessary legislation and enact the Election Act-2017 as early as possible.
Under the new proposed law, the Election Commission is required to make necessary arrangements for printing of new forms, envelopes and other related material.
