Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme to be launched

LAHORE (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a three hours long meeting, here on Monday, which decided to launch Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme for construction of additional classrooms in schools of the province.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that thousands of new classrooms and missing facilities would be provided in schools at a cost of Rs 28 billion. He said that additional classrooms would be constructed on priority basis in the schools of 16 districts of South Punjab.

The Chief Minister directed that measures should be taken immediately for constructing additional classrooms while a survey of schools for this purpose and its third party audit should be conducted.

Shehbaz Sharif said that construction of additional classrooms would result in provision of educational facilities to children. He said that he would personally monitor implementation of this big programme.

He issued instructions for setting up a steering committee to give a final shape to the programme and other matters. He also directed to evolve an effective mechanism for the monitoring of the programme.

Provincial Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Schools Education and concerned officials were present in the meeting while Provincial Minister Tanveer Aslam Malik and Secretary C&W attended through video link from DCO Office Chakwal.
