Farooq Sattar removed, Khalid Maqbool appointed new MQM-P convener

KARACHI:The Rabita Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has on Sunday removed party convener Dr Farooq Sattar from his post and appointed Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui new convener.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Sunday, MQM-P Rabitar Committee member Kanwar Naveed Jameel said that there were several charges against party chief Dr Farooq Sattar.
He said that the Rabita Committee made Farooq Sattar leader of the party in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Jameel said that Sattar made change in the party’s constitution without informing the Rabita Committee.
“He (Farooq Sattar) kept the authority of the rights to select and remove party members without informing the coordination committee,” Jameel alleged.
He said that the Rabita Committee has the right to select public representatives and local bodies representatives.
Kanwar Naveed alleged that despite repeated reminders, the party’s details could not be submitted in the ECP.
Khalid Maqbool Gets Authority:
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had allowed Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) deputy-convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui the power to hand out party tickets for upcoming Senate elections.
The Election Commission has accepted the nomination papers of Nasreen Jalil, Farogh Naseem, Ameenul Haq and others.
The Election Commission also accepted the nomination papers of Kamran Tessori when Farooq Sattar learnt about this proceeding, he reached Election Commission office and tried his best to convince the Returning Officer but all in vain.
Farooq Sattar told Returning Officer that he is the party chairman and without his presence the party’s meeting legal value is suspicious. on the other hand, the meeting called by Farroq Sattar at PIB Ground is also facing delay. According to sources, Bahadurabad group has decided to not attend the meeting scheduled to be held at PIB Ground.
The ECP had also issued a Senate ticket to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) deputy convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Khalid. The ECP had also approved the documents of Kamran Tessori.APP
