3 Police officials arrested in Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case

KARACHI: Three police officials allegedly involved in Naqeebullah Mehsud’s staged encounter have been arrested by the authorities on Monday.
Investigation officer Abid Qaimkhani confirmed that three officials, identified as constables Ali, Shafiq Ahmad and Ghulam Nazil, have been arrested by the authorities.
The prime accused in Naqeebullah’s alleged encounter, Rao Anwar, remains at large, while raids in various parts of Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are being conducted to arrest the former SSP.
On January 31, three arrested police officers, ASI Allahayar, policemen Mohammad Iqbal and Arshad Ali, were identified by eye-witnesses when the accused were brought at the court of judicial magistrate Malir for identity parade.
The 27-year-old hailing from South Waziristan and residing in Karachi since 2008, was allegedly apprehended by police in Karachi on January 2, 2018, and was killed on January 17 in a controversial encounter by a police team headed by Rao Anwar in Karachi.
