New development reported in Shahbaz Gill sedition case

A local court in Islamabad on Monday again deferred the indictment of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill in a sedition case.

Shahbaz Gill will now be charge-sheeted on December 22.

The court, however, accepted Shahbaz Gill’s application seeking exemption from appearance in the court today but rejected Immad Yousaf’s plea for acquittal from the case.

The district and sessions court in Islamabad heard the sedition case against Shahbaz Gill on Monday. The hearing of the case was held in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra.

Public prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbasi appeared before the court.

During the hearing of the case, Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra remarked: “Immad Yousaf says that the programme—in which Shahbaz Gill allegedly incited the junior officers of Pakistan Army against their senior command—had been aired from Islamabad, and he has nothing to do with it.”

He added: “Immad Yousaf asserts that any move for his indictment is not right.”
