PEAHAWAR - KP government flagship BRT Peshawar project faces yet another setback. The Peshawar High Court has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe into under construction Rapid Bus Transit system (BRT), while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced to cooperate in the inquiry.
According to details, the Peshawar High Court has directed FIA to probe into BRT.
In this regard, the provincial government has decided to fully cooperate with the FIA in the inquiry.
KP government spokesperson Ajmal Wazir said that the government will cooperate with the FIA for the transparency of the BRT project.
He said that the provincial government was not given the opportunity to present its stance in the court. "It is our constitutional and legal right to answer questions raised in judicial decisions", he added.
On December 6, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government decided to approach the Supreme Court to stop FIA's ongoing probe into BRT project.
Previously, the Peshawar High Court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe into BRT project within 45 days.
The court in its judgment instructed the FIA to submit its findings within 45 days, and to also take action against officers involved.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already acquired a stay order over NAB's investigative report on BRT.
