Senate urges US to revisit its decision on Jerusalem

Senate has passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning President Trump's decision to recognize occupied Jerusalem as Israeli capital.

The resolution was moved by Leader of the House Raja Zafarul Haq.

The House termed shifting of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem as a flagrant violation of the International Law, UN Security Council Resolutions, and the international norms.

The resolution expressed its serious concerns over the implications of this decision for international peace and security, especially in the Middle East.

It urged the United States to revisit its decision as soon as possible to avoid the potentially grave repercussions in the region and beyond.

The resolution rejected Israel’s sovereignty over all or any part of Palestine including Jerusalem.

The House reaffirmed its full support, solidarity and commitment with the Palestinians towards their just cause of freedom.
