IG Punjab Police: Why Punjab government has made a temperory appointment

The post of the Inspector General of Police Punjab had fell vacant with the retirement of the IG Punjab Police Mushatq Sukhera.
The Federal government on Wednesday temporary filled the slot of vacant IG Punjab police by appointing Additional Inspector General Training Captain (Rtd) Usman Khattak as Acting Inspector General.
According to media reports, Khattak has been appointed for a period of three months after which a permanent IGP would replace him.
As per the sources, government wanted to appoint CCPO Lahore Captain Amin Wains as IG Punjab but due to the recent Supreme Court decisions many officers including CCPO Lahore may be affected and may had to go a review board for re promotion to the rank of Additional IG.
Till then it has been decided to appoint a temperory Inspector General of Police.
The post of Punjab’s police head became vacant after the retirement of Mushtaq Sukhera on Monday. Sukhera served in the department for 34-years but remianed controversial ever since he assumed charge as Inspector General.
