Car bomb explosion in Afghanistan

KABUL – At least four Taliban insurgents were killed in an explosiontriggered by a premature blast in a Vehicle-borne Improvised ExplosiveDevice.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said Monday that theexplosion took place in western Farah province of Afghanistan.

The statement further added that four Taliban insurgents riding a motorbomb were on their way to reach their target when the explosives went off.

The blast took place on Sunday evening in the vicinity of Dand Jal villagein Anar Dara district, according to MoI.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgentshave not commented regarding the report so far.

In the meantime, the ministry of interior says the blast not inflictedcasualties to anyone else including the local residents or securitypersonnel.

Farah is among the relatively volatile provinces in West of Afghanistanwhere the Taliban insurgents are active in some of its remote districts andoften carry out insurgency activities.

Roadside bombings, coordinated attacks on security posts and governmentinstitutions, car bombings, clashes with the security forces are oftenreported from the province.
